Seneca College Of Applied Arts And Technology: School Of Community Services, 2012–2015
I earned my Diploma in Social Service Work from Seneca College Of Applied Arts And Technology. During my time in University, I had many great experiences that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. Some of these included speaking at professional conferences, collaboration in research experiences and completing an Honors Thesis. More information can be found on these experiences by visiting the “Presentations And Publications” page.

Social Service Worker Diploma
Between 2012 and 2015, while studying for my Social Service Worker Diploma, I had the opportunity to study in areas such as Social Problems and Policy, Interviewing and Counselling, Group Dynamics and a variety of hands-on experiences in practical placements. Through all of this, I gained critical skills and knowledge that has been instrumental in my personal, academic, and professional life and this I will carry with me throughout my future pursuits.
Empowerment
During our life pursuits, we strive to set and achieve goals that are very important and close to us. These cannot, and will not always be easy. Sometimes, we have to work extra hard and be persistent in order to truly earn what it we desire. This takes hard work, planning, perseverance, persistence an a positive attitude, but you CAN do it! Sometimes, as much as we may not want to, we need to ask for help because we find that we have hit a rough spot in the road, or the tools we require have not made their way into the tool belt just yet. Perhaps, in order to achieve what we have set out to do, we need to gain more knowledge and insight from someone who has been down the same road before. It is common to ask for assistance and recognize that this is a part of learning and growing and though the first person we ask may not have all the answers, the more we research and have meaningful conversations, the more knowledgeable we become in the long run.
So, don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions, read literature and try new things. You will be amazed what you will earn about your chosen topic and maybe even YOURSELF.
Acknowledgements
I would like to acknowledge those who have been there to assist me through my own journeys and life pursuits. I thank my mother and father who have always encouraged me to not give up and try hard at everything I do, despite any challenges I have or times I thought “I can’t do it”. I would like to thank my brother, sister and brother-in-law for being there to talk things out and provide suggestions or advice when I hit my bumps in the road and am not sure how to get over them. I would like to thank my niece and nephew for always being there for a joke or laugh and all the good times we have together. Last, but definitely not least, I would like to thank my teachers, mentors, supervisors, friends and colleagues for all you have taught me and continue to teach me as I move through this journey called “life”. I am truly grateful for everyone who has and continues to support me.
